The final eight candidates in the 2025 Racing Post/SIS Betting Shop Manager of the Year competition have been revealed.

Selected from a shortlist of 16, the eight individuals will now compete for the prestigious title which culminates at an awards lunch at Lincoln’s Inn in London on Monday, November 10th.

The shortlisting follows an evening at Kempton Park last week, where the managers met the judges for the first time, completed an interview with Derek Thompson and then got to enjoy a jampack card of racing.

Following an extensive deliberation period, we are pleased to confirm that the competition’s final eight are:

  • Sharon Conaghy, Ladbrokes, Mullingar
  • Birat Devkota, Paddy Power, Folkestone
  • Georgina Giles, Paddy Power, Birmingham
  • Tracey Mooney, William Hill, Prestwick
  • Victoria Nichols, William Hill, Newmarket
  • Paul Oxtoby, Betfred, Beverley
  • Scott Sweet, Ladbrokes, Teignmouth
  • Peter Wilde, William Hill, Caernarfon

Each manager, accompanied by a key member of their shop team, will meet the judges the day before the final for a question-and-answer session.

The judging panel includes IBAS chief executive Richard Hayler, Levy Board chief executive Alan Delmonte, Nigel Boardman and Helen Scott of SIS, and the Racing Post’s retail director Alan Pepperell and editorial production journalist Andrew Pennington.

As part of their prize, the winner will be invited to several key industry events during their year as champion, in recognition of their brilliant achievement and commitment to the retail industry.

The best of luck to all eight competing finalists!
