SIS turns 30
5th May 2017 - SIS
This month marks our 30th anniversary since our first live picture broadcasts from Chester Racecourse and Hackney greyhounds on the 5th May, 1987.
Originally forming as Delphbyte Limited in 1985, we changed our name to Satellite Racing Development soon after, and then to SIS in October 1986, and our aim was to shape the future of horse racing and greyhound racing betting with innovative live pictures and data services. This entrepreneurial spirit has continued throughout the decades and now sees the newly-rebranded SIS (Sports Information Services) as a leading supplier to the betting and gaming industry worldwide, with high-profile customers, and a headcount of over 400 based across multiple offices.
Despite the many challenges and changes that we have faced over the years, including a global financial crisis and the emergence of the digital age, we have continued to set the bar for innovative products and services to the betting & gaming industry.
Recent innovations have included the creation of SIS Stream, allowing super-fast delivery of betting content, both to retail (IPTV), and online (Web); Trading Services which provides small to medium sized operators with an ‘outsourced’ pricing team; and CAP which now allows operators of all sizes to have their own betting channels at a significantly lower cost than previously possible. The SIS team are currently working on a ‘Horses In-Running’ pricing product, which promises to revolutionise betting on horse racing.
