Micky Quinn, former top flight striker-turned-racehorse trainer, is spearheading SIS’ EURO 2012 coverage in betting shops.
With all matches being shown live on BBC and ITV, SIS is providing a complementary service to help bookmakers and punters throughout the tournament in Poland and Ukraine from June 8-July 1.
Ex-frontman Quinn became a trainer after hanging up his boots, first as an assistant to Mick Channon, but now in his own right at Newmarket. As a much-travelled forward, the colourful Quinn averaged a goal every two games in a career that took him to Wigan, Stockport, Oldham, Portsmouth, Newcastle, Coventry, Plymouth, Watford and Greek club PAOK Thessaloniki.
Quinn is also a pundit and presenter on talkSPORT and he will be using his extensive football knowledge to preview matches and provide expert analysis for SIS throughout the day, leading up to kick-off.
George Irvine, Managing Director, SIS, said: “We anticipate EURO 2012 interest to be huge, especially with both England and Ireland in the finals. And with all matches to be broadcast live on TV, many bookmakers are gearing themselves up to meet the additional customer demand.”
Morning previews will consist of daily audio phone-ins with call-to-action stings throughout the day, team line-ups 30 minutes before kick-off and in-play updates, including scorers, red cards and goalmouth action.
Irvine added: “Mick is a top class pundit and he will give us a football expert’s view on the upcoming matches. Via our graphics and audio, we have the ability to offer instantaneous updates on SIS FACTS and SIS+ with more in-depth analysis available on SIS+. It’s our intention to offer a service that will hopefully generate additional turnover in LBOs.”
