Here at SIS we have a better sense than most of the challenges involved in running a successful bookmaker’s – which is why we so enjoy the Betting Shop Manager of the Year competition. In the 24 years since the SIS/Racing Post contest was launched, we’ve been blown away by the enthusiasm and professionalism of contenders for the retail betting industry’s ultimate accolade. A good business brain only begins to describe what makes a great betting shop manager: add genuine enthusiasm, the ability to inspire the rest of the team – and a warm, welcoming personality, then you’re close. That said; judging by the standard of last year’s entries, there’ll be no shortage of contenders again in this year’s competition, now open for entries until May 31. The Betting Shop Manager of the Year recognises the winner by giving him or her a sample of the VIP lifestyle, topped this year by a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Singapore Airlines International Cup.
